As part of the summer course in 'Painting the Portrait From The Model' I had the pleasure of working with the model , Fernanda, of Italian Peruvian background. It was very hot and humid in the studio so it took a huge effort for the models to sit through 45 hours of student work. needless to say we tried everything to keep the models cool and acknowledged for their efforts. Fernanda was very professional and helpful and I wish her all the best in her chosen artistic career.
We had to draw the model using sight-size measurements, and then paint her. I have included some progress shots from drawing, under-painting, and first stage. We ran out of time so only got up to the beginning of working up the details of the face at the start of second stage painting.
